Fairly thorough look at camping in California

This book is written in the same fashion as the other California books from Foghorn Outdoors. Each chapter covers a region of California, and each chapter begins with an overview map of the whole region, followed by closer looks at each portion of the regional map. After the maps, it lists each camping area with a brief description, as well as facts about toilet availability, fees, etc. This book has a fairly thorough list of camping areas, but as with the other Foghorn books, it should definitely be broken up into 2 books for Northern and Southern California, and each book should have at least twice the number of places listed.
If you are a California resident looking for lots of places to camp near where you live, you will be disappointed. This book is more of an overview of camping places in the state of California as a whole, and while it will list all the major campgrounds in your area, it will lack many/all of the lesser known areas.
I find this book to be of higher value to perhaps an out-of-state visitor who would like to try camping in California, but doesn't know where to begin. It might still be a useful addition to your library if you are an avid California camper, but you'd probably be better off getting a more region-specific book.

This book shows every camp site in California and gives all the information on how to make reservation, what to bring, and how to enjoy it. The author even gives a rating on each camp site and the best time of the year to go.
